Corporate tax software in the UAE: registration, tax periods, losses and relief treatment worked from the live ledger

Corporate tax software in the UAE turns the accounts you already keep into the computation your tax agent files. Since the federal Corporate Tax regime began, businesses have had to track registration details, a tax period that may differ from the calendar year, carried-forward losses and whether the small business relief election applies. e-tijariX, offered, implemented and supported by Next Orbit, records these in the finance module so the computation is produced from posted figures rather than rebuilt in a spreadsheet.

Quick answer

What is corporate tax and who is it for?

Corporate tax software in the UAE holds a company's Corporate Tax registration, its tax period and its loss position, and produces the computation from the ledger with the adjustments a tax agent expects. e-tijariX, offered, implemented and supported by Next Orbit, maps each account to an adjustment category, tracks losses carried forward, flags the small business relief treatment where elected and assembles a tax-agent pack with the trial balance, adjustments, schedules and supporting reports.

  • The spreadsheet problem. Most UAE companies compute Corporate Tax once a year from a trial balance exported to Excel, where account mappings and loss figures live in one person's head.
  • What the module keeps. Registration number, tax period dates, elections such as small business relief, opening losses, disallowed and exempt categories, and the mapping from each ledger account to the computation.
  • What the agent receives. A pack with the trial balance, mapped adjustments, loss schedule, fixed-asset and depreciation detail, related-party listing and the VAT returns for the same period.
  • What Next Orbit delivers. Registration and period setup, account mapping agreed with your tax agent, opening loss capture, a quarterly review routine and support at year-end. This is not tax advice.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

What we deliver

Corporate Tax: what Next Orbit builds and runs for you

Pick a deliverable to see what it covers and the part of the stack behind it.

Deliverable 01

Registration and tax period

The Corporate Tax registration number, the first and subsequent tax periods and any change of period are recorded per company, and reports run on the tax period rather than the financial year when they differ.

From the stack

  • Power BI
  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP

Deliverable 02

Account mapping to the computation

Each ledger account is tagged as taxable, exempt, disallowed or an adjustment, so the accounting profit becomes a draft taxable income figure automatically. Mappings are agreed with your tax agent and locked.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET
  • PostgreSQL

Deliverable 03

Losses and relief treatment

Opening losses and each period's result are tracked in a loss schedule with carry-forward applied to the computation. A small business relief flag records the election and its effect for the period.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET

Deliverable 04

Tax-agent pack

One export produces the trial balance, adjustment schedules, loss schedule, fixed-asset register, related-party transactions and VAT returns for the period, as PDF and Excel, in English or Arabic.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET
  • PostgreSQL

Deliverable 05

VAT and e-invoicing beside it

The same ledger produces VAT 201 and PINT AE e-invoices, so the revenue in the tax computation agrees with the VAT returns and the invoices archived for five years. See UAE e-invoicing.

From the stack

  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET
  • PostgreSQL
  • Power BI

Why organisations come to us for corporate tax

  1. Next Orbit implements the module from its Dubai office for companies in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and across the UAE and GCC.

Setup captures your Corporate Tax registration number, tax period and opening loss position, maps accounts to the adjustment categories your agent uses and switches on the tax-agent pack. The finance team learns to review the pack each quarter so year-end is a confirmation rather than a scramble.

Before a line of production code is written we draw the system: the people who use it, the services behind it and the systems it must talk to. This reference architecture from our ERP development practice is the starting point we adapt to your operation.

How it runs

From first conversation to go-live

5 stages, each with a deliverable you can review and sign off before the next begins.

  1. 01

    Demo and tax review

A demo on Next Orbit sample data, then a session with your tax agent on registration, period, elections and the adjustments they apply.

  2. 02

    Mapping

Each ledger account tagged to a computation category and the opening loss position entered from the last filed return.

  3. 03

    Dry run

The computation produced for a closed period and compared with the agent's own working so differences are explained before go-live.

  4. 04

    Quarterly routine

A review checklist for each quarter: new accounts mapped, related-party transactions tagged, draft taxable income checked and questions logged for the agent.

  5. 05

    Year-end and support

The tax-agent pack produced at period end with Next Orbit support, then updated as regulations or your structure change.

Who it is for

Organisations we build corporate tax for

  • Mainland trading companies

Businesses above the relief threshold that need a defensible computation with every adjustment traced to a ledger account and a pack their agent can review quickly.

  • Free zone entities

Companies in a free zone that track qualifying and non-qualifying income separately and want the treatment recorded for their tax agent to review each period.

  • Small businesses electing relief

Companies within the small business relief limits that still need registration, tax period and the election recorded, with a return pack ready each year.

  • Groups with several entities

Holding structures that compute per entity, list related-party transactions for the agent and want each company's loss position tracked in one place.

Questions, answered

Corporate Tax in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 What is corporate tax software in the UAE?

It is accounting software that keeps the Corporate Tax registration, tax period, elections and loss position of a company and produces the taxable income computation from the ledger. e-tijariX does this inside its finance module and exports a pack for the tax agent who files the return.

02 Does corporate tax software in the UAE file the return for us?

No. e-tijariX prepares the computation and the supporting pack; your registered tax agent or finance lead reviews and files through the Federal Tax Authority portal. The software is built to FTA requirements, and Next Orbit does not give tax advice.

03 How are losses carried forward handled?

Opening losses from previous filed returns are entered once, and each period's result updates a loss schedule. The schedule applies carry-forward to the draft computation and shows the remaining balance, so the agent can confirm the figure used.

04 Can the software record a small business relief election?

Yes. A per-period flag records that small business relief has been elected, with the revenue test figure beside it. The computation shows the treatment for that period, and the record stays with the company for later periods. Whether relief applies is for your tax agent to confirm.

05 What if our tax period is not the calendar year?

Tax period start and end dates are set per company and may differ from the financial year. The computation, loss schedule and tax-agent pack run on those dates, and a change of period is recorded with its effective date.

06 Does corporate tax software in the UAE work for a group of companies?

Yes. Each entity holds its own registration, period and computation, while related-party transactions between them are tagged and listed for the agent. A company switcher moves between entities in one login. See multi-company accounting.

07 How does the Corporate Tax pack relate to the VAT return?

Both come from the same posted ledger, so revenue in the tax computation agrees with the sales declared in the VAT 201 returns for the period. The pack includes those returns, which helps the agent reconcile the two. See VAT accounting software.
