POS software in the UAE: counter sales that post to stock and the ledger, even when the shop is offline

POS software in the UAE is usually bought as a till and then stitched to the accounts with an export at the end of the day. The counter sells an item the warehouse has already promised to a dealer, and the accountant finds out at month end. The counter sales screen in e-tijariX, offered, implemented and supported by Next Orbit, is part of the same system as stock and finance, so a sale across the counter reduces the stock figure and posts to the ledger as it happens.

Quick answer

What is POS and counter sales and who is it for?

POS software in the UAE records a counter sale, prints a tax-compliant receipt and takes payment in cash, card or by link, while reducing stock and posting to the ledger. In e-tijariX, offered, implemented and supported by Next Orbit, the counter screen runs on the same database as inventory, finance and the online store, so a showroom, a trade counter and the website sell from one stock figure. Offline mode keeps selling when the connection drops and syncs when it returns, and the end-of-day close reconciles every tender type.

  • The usual setup. A standalone till, a daily Excel export and an accountant who re-enters sales totals, so stock and cash are both out of date and nobody knows the margin on today's sales.
  • One stock, one ledger. A counter sale consumes the oldest FIFO layer, posts revenue, VAT and cost of sales immediately, and shows in the dashboard beside online and B2B sales.
  • Offline by design. When the shop loses its connection, sales continue on the counter device and sync later in order, with receipt numbers kept unbroken for the VAT audit trail.
  • What Next Orbit delivers. Receipt and tender setup, scanners and printers, offline configuration, the end-of-day close procedure, cashier training and support for new counters as you open them.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

Pick a deliverable to see what it covers and the part of the stack behind it.

Deliverable 01

Counter sales screen

Barcode scan or search, customer lookup, quantity and price with the role's discount limit, and a receipt that prints with every VAT field in Arabic and English. Returns and exchanges reference the original receipt.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • React
  • Flutter (mobile ERP apps)
  • PostgreSQL

Deliverable 03

Tenders and pay-by-link

Cash, card terminal, split tender, customer credit and a payment link through gateways that are ready to connect, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and buy now, pay later.

From the stack

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • Power BI
  • Laravel / PHP

Deliverable 05

End-of-day close

Who it is for

Organisations we build POS and counter sales for

  • Trade counters and showrooms

Distributors selling across a counter to walk-in trade customers from the same stock as their B2B orders, with trade prices applied automatically.

  • Electronics and phone shops

Retailers who need serial and IMEI numbers captured at the point of sale, with warranty linked to the receipt and returns traced to the unit.

Questions, answered

POS and counter sales in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 What should POS software in the UAE include?

A receipt with every VAT field, barcode scanning, cash and card tenders, returns against the original receipt, offline operation and posting to stock and the ledger. e-tijariX adds pay-by-link, serial and IMEI capture and an end-of-day close that feeds bank reconciliation.

02 Does POS software in the UAE work offline?

In e-tijariX, yes. The counter continues selling when the connection drops, stores sales locally and syncs them in order when the link returns. Receipt numbers remain continuous, and stock and ledger entries are posted on sync so the audit trail is intact.

03 Can counter sales and the online store share stock?

Yes. Counter sales, B2B orders and the online store all sell from one stock figure per warehouse. A counter sale reduces the quantity the website shows, and a web order reserves stock the counter can no longer sell.

04 How is a counter sale recorded in the accounts?

Each sale posts revenue, output VAT and cost of sales at FIFO cost the moment it is completed, with the tender posted to cash, card clearing or the pay-by-link clearing account. The accountant sees the day's sales in the ledger without an export.

05 Can customers pay by link at the counter?

Yes. The cashier sends a payment link by WhatsApp or SMS, or shows a QR code, and the customer pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or buy now, pay later through a gateway that is ready to connect. The receipt closes when the payment is confirmed.

06 Is POS software in the UAE suitable for several branches?

Yes. Each branch has its own counters, cash drawers and stock, with branch-scoped access for staff. Head office sees sales, margin and cash by branch in the dashboard and consolidates stock across the group. See multi-branch accounting.

07 Does the receipt meet UAE tax invoice requirements?

Receipts print the fields required for a tax invoice or simplified tax invoice, including TRN, VAT amount and date, in Arabic and English. Sales flow into the VAT 201 return automatically. This is not tax advice; your tax agent confirms the format that applies to you.
